Comprehension – The process of comprehension is an analytical process that involves thinking. Our mind is given facts and figures in order to understand why something happens the way it does. There is a process of connecting the dots to arrive at that ‘aha’ moment of understanding. It could be a chemistry lab experiment when we understand how a chemical reaction occurs, an historical event when we understand why things happened the way they did or examining a personal relationship to try and understand what went wrong. Comprehension is a thought process that involves a thorough examination of the facts. Comprehension is learned, the more we practice comprehension the better we become at doing it.

Comprehension, knowledge and intelligence are all closely related. Comprehension represents our ability to gather knowledge and intelligence is our ability to use knowledge.
